Job Description Summary:
Manages the Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification (EVOC) training and Force on Force (FoF) Training Complex of the Public Safety Training Center (PSTC).
Job Description:
Description of Duties and Tasks
1) Manages all aspects of the Force on Force Training Complex and Emergency Vehicle Operation (EVOC) track including implementing all training protocols, including firearms and vehicle safety processes.
2) Manages all events at the EVOC driving track and FoF Training Complex.
3) Ensures the Force on Force Training Complex and EVOC track are operated in accordance with College policies and PSTC procedures.
4) Develops and provides individual and group instruction on proper FoF techniques including all aspects of firearms safety, handling, shooting, targeting and training.
5) Maintains building configurations or track configurations and placements are conducted properly and in accordance to training protocols.
6) Ensures no live weapons or ammunition are allowed into the FoF Training Complex.
7) Maintains training firearms inventory and necessary FoF Training supplies.
8) Provides for the proper storage of all Force on Force training equipment.
9) Repairs and services training firearms; stores and maintains all training firearms equipment including safety gear, ammunition and targets.
10) Maintains vehicles and all props and equipment used in driving training scenarios.
11) Provides for the proper storage and security of all EVOC vehicles and equipment.
12) Maintains records of EVOC and FoF Training activities and submits reports to the Director, as required.
13) Oversees assigned staff, hourly instructors and adjunct faculty during any PSTC activities, operations and use.
14) Assists the PSTC Range Master and PSTC Logistics Manager as needed.
15) May oversee, assist, lead or schedule any training conducted at the PSTC.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of repairing firearms, primarily Simunition and Airsoft brands.
* Proper use, storage and maintenance of training firearms equipment, including safety gear, ammunition and targets.
* FoF and EVOC instruction, training and proper techniques.
* Proper use of training weapons in FoF Training, and emergency driving skills for EVOC instruction and training.
* Principles of exceptional client service and practice.
* Knowledge of vehicle upkeep requirements and maintenance cost, including tires, oil, routine maintenance and evaluation.
* Proper safety techniques related to emergency vehicle operation, including police patrol and pursuit driving.
* Knowledge of federal, state and local laws regarding firearms, FoF Training and emergency vehicle operations and training.
* Knowledge of vehicle upkeep requirements and maintenance cost.

Technology Skills
* Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
Required Work Experience
* Five years related work experience as a commissioned and/or licensed law enforcement officer. Documented law enforcement training records are required. (Example: Texas Commission on Law Enforcement or Police Officer Standards and Training records.)
* Some supervisory experience required.
* Documented experience as a law enforcement instructor.
Preferred Work Experience
* More than five years in Law Enforcement training, including firearms.
* Experience as law enforcement Force on Force Instructor.
* Experience as law enforcement EVOC Instructor.
* Documented examples of Law Enforcement EVOC training plans.
* Master Peace Officer TCOLE Certificate.
Required Education
* Bachelor's degree or higher in Criminal Justice or related field with minor in Criminal Justice.
Preferred Education
* Master's degree in Criminal Justice or related field with 18 hours in Criminal Justice.
* Documentation of successful completion of law enforcement Firearms Instructors course, NRA Firearms Instructors course, EVOC Instructors Course and Force on Force Instructors Course.
Special Requirements
* Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation to travel to different sites and locations.
* Availability for shift work, flexible hours, and emergency calls.
Physical Requirements
* Work is routinely performed in a Force on Force Training room and an outdoor EVOC driving track.
* Subject to standing for extended periods of time, walking, sitting, running, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, stooping, squatting, twisting, climbing, pushing, pulling, and manual dexterity.
* Occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds.
* Subject to exposure to noise, outdoors, chemicals, explosive materials, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards.
* Ability to disassemble and assemble various types of firearms, demonstrate proper firearms grip, stance and handling, and demonstrate firearms accuracy.
* Ability to demonstrate correct movement in Force on Force training.
* Ability to operate a motor vehicle and demonstrate proper emergency vehicle operation at speeds of 1 to 60 mph.

$82,756 - $103,445
