Position Description
The Department of Biology at Texas State University invites applications for a tenured Associate Professor or Professor position specializing in ecohydrology . The successful candidate is expected to establish ongoing collaboration with The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment, and act to assist in its scientific mission. To be eligible for hire at the associate professor rank, candidate must meet the requirements for that rank as established by the department. The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and title based on university and department established standards. All positions are subject to the availability of funds.
This position will receive operating funds through The Meadows Endowment. The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Develop an externally funded research program within the general field of integrated hydrological studies
- Integrate graduate students into the research program
- Publish original research in peer-reviewed research journals
- Teach at least one full course and one seminar per year in their area of expertise
- Serve as a scientific resource (e.g., expert witness, technical panel member) in public policy processes related to water resources
- Provide service (e.g., committee membership) within the University community
Required qualifications are an earned Ph.D. in the biological sciences, environmental hydrology, ecohydraulics, environmental engineering, or related field; a sustained record of peer-reviewed publications related to hydrological- ecological interactions, a sustained record of external grant funding to support research; and evidence of successful supervision and mentoring of doctoral students.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include national/international recognition of professional contributions, and prior experience with collaborative cross-disciplinary research experience that complements the strengths of the department.
