Overview:
Quinnipiac University invites applications for a Strategic Buyer. The Strategic Buyer works under the general supervision of the Director of Procurement in the Strategic Sourcing and Procurement Department. The Strategic Buyer assists in all procurement functions, with a focus on purchasing. The Strategic Buyer purchases materials, equipment, supplies and services of a specialized or complex nature in accordance with procurement policies.

Responsibilities:
- Authorizes tier 2 requisitions and creates purchase orders as needed within authorized amounts
- Assists with monitoring policy compliance
- Assists end-users in identifying vendors, obtains competitive quotes for purchases and makes fiscally responsible purchases
- Assists the Director of Procurement in the bid process as required
- Maintains and assists users with the e-procurement system and establishes vendor catalogs, establishes users, oversees upgrades and implements new functionality
- Assists with training tools and materials
- Runs and reviews reports as needed to analyze vendor spend
- Trains new employees on purchasing processes and policies
- Has working knowledge of all departments processes and provides assistance for Accounts Payable and P-card services as needed
- Responsible for other related duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or equivalent experience
- 2-3 years of experience in purchasing
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting and accounting principles
- Experience in contract administration preferred
- Knowledge of Ellucian Colleague preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion
