DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:

The Psychology Department at Sacramento State has 26 tenure-track faculty as well as multiple lecturers who serve more than 1,400 undergraduate majors and more than 50 graduate students. The Psychology Department features individual faculty research space, a psychological/behavioral services clinic, computer labs, technical/instructional support, and a small animal vivarium. The Psychology Department has a strong and ongoing relationship with the university's Community Engagement Center and Center for Teaching and Learning, as well as multiple local schools and community partners. Through teaching, scholarship, and service we promote human equity, health and well-being, effective functioning, and respect for diversity. Our undergraduate program is designed to give all students a well-rounded education in the discipline of psychology, as well as to provide a strong preparation for those who seek advanced study in psychology. Students who successfully complete our program receive a Bachelor of Arts degree. In addition to the
undergraduate major, the Psychology Department offers an undergraduate certificate in behavior analysis and master's programs in applied behavior analysis, general psychology, and industrial-organizational psychology. The undergraduate certificate in behavior analysis and the M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs are both ABAI verified course sequences, and the M.S. in ABA program is known internationally for its research productivity and high passing rate on the BCBA exam.

POSITION DETAILS:

This is a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank in Psychology beginning in the Fall 2023 semester.

Salary will be dependent upon CSU system-wide ranges, qualifications and professional experience. The classification annual salary range for this position is $64,860 - $143,928; the anticipated annual starting salary is $74,642.

JOB DUTIES:
  1. Teach undergraduate and graduate level behavior analysis courses as well as other courses in their area of expertise.
  2. Develop a focused and productive program of behavior analysis research that demonstrates inclusivity in the involvement of undergraduate and graduate students and respect for diversity in the content and/or focus of the research topics.
  3. Supervise behavior analysis graduate students within practicum placements.
  4. Provide advising to a diverse body of undergraduate Psychology majors from a variety of backgrounds.
  5. Supervise Master's level thesis students in behavior analysis.
  6. Provide service to the department, college, University, and community through the lens of diversity, equity, and inclusiveness.
  7. Work as a cooperative member in the function of the department, including curriculum development, assessment, accreditation, and program review.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ph.D. from an accredited university with a specialty in Applied Behavior Analysis. ABD candidates may be considered for appointment with the requirement that the degree must be completed by January 2024.
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst - Doctoral (BCBA-D) or eligible.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision following BACB guidelines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based teaching practices with diverse students.
  • Demonstrated commitment to conducting and publishing empirical research in behavior analysis that could be adapted to a regional comprehensive state university where teaching is the primary focus.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity.

  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Teaching experience in the field of behavior analysis at the college level.
    2. Empirical publications utilizing single-case designs.
    3. Interest and ability in teaching undergraduate and graduate level behavior analysis courses, including behavior analysis supervision, introductory psychology, and developmental disability courses.
    4. Interest and ability in using a wide variety of teaching methodologies and perspectives that integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion in the curriculum.
    5. Clinical experience in early intensive behavioral intervention.

    • Unofficial transcripts of all graduate work (official transcripts required if invited for an interview)
    • Evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., student evaluations of teaching, sample course materials and/or evidence of relevant training and experiences, etc.)
    • Evidence of research experience (e.g., reprints, preprints, grant applications, etc.)
    • Name, telephone number, and email address for three recent academic/professional references

    Confidential letters of recommendation will be collected directly from applicant's references. After the initial review date, the three references listed on the application will be contacted with instructions on how to upload confidential letters of recommendation.
