Social Media and Web Design Coordinator

General Statement of Job

The University Relations and Marketing office at Missouri Southern is seeking a skilled Social Media and Web Design Coordinator to grow the university's online presence and support the university's marketing initiatives.

The ideal candidate will be a creative individual with great attention to detail, diverse background in social media management and web design, and can collaborate with other in-house creative staff in a fast-paced work environment.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

Work with marketing leadership, academic departments and URM team to define social media stories and narratives that both support the strategic initiative and resonate with end users.

Expand social media outreach and showcase attractive campus services.

Research, write, design, and publish engaging materials for social platforms that are captivating, relevant, on brand, authentic and promote MSSU.

Create, support and schedule social content calendar with daily/weekly posts to promote brand awareness to MSSU’s audiences on social platforms.

Coordinate all aspects of MSSU.edu including the designing, building, and maintenance of the primary landing pages.

Collaborate with other university departments by recommending appropriate content and design structure for their department webpages.

Work alongside the URM photographers, videographers, graphic designers, and writers to accomplish the universities marketing needs.

Be very comfortable multitasking on several different projects.

Be able to meet tight deadlines while being respectful and having a positive attitude with colleagues and students.

Performs other duties as required.

Education, Experience, and Licenses

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in communications, digital media, or a related field is required.

Three to five years of work-related experience is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Intermediate to expert level experience with social platforms and programs included but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok
  • Knowledge and proficiency using Adobe and Microsoft Office programs – Photoshop, Illustrator, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Google Apps; able to learn new software
  • Able to write content for a variety of audiences and platforms, with the ability to speak to several different topic areas and maintain branding and tone
  • Strong interest in current media and social media trends
  • Experience in designing professional websites
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Understanding of UI and UX concepts
  • Required ability to design SEO friendly web pages
  • Graphic design experience preferred
  • Have an online portfolio demonstrating your work
