Job Description

This is a grant funded position with employment contingent upon satisfactory performance. The program technician – Cotton will work in the cotton agronomy and extension program with Dr. Bradley Wilson, in cooperation with several UM Faculty, Industry partners, and on-farm cooperators. The position will be stationed at the Fisher Delta Research Center (FDRC) in Portageville. Frequent travel to grower fields will be required with provided transportation. The candidate will be expected to maintain research plots, including but not limited to field preparation, planting, spraying, fertilizing, harvesting, and equipment maintenance. The candidate will also assist with data collection and entry. Supervision of seasonal workers will be a key component of this position. The candidate will have the opportunity to assist in writing technical and extension-based articles and presenting research findings at local, state, and national meetings. Pursuing a Master’s degree related to cotton production may also be an option if desired.

Salary

$13.67 - $23.87 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
