CONTEXT OF THE JOB:
Under the general direction of the Manager of Team Operations and External Relations and in coordination with the Graduate Program Director and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Practice Initiatives, the Clinical Coordinator manages the day-to-day operations of the department’s graduate programs – MS-Nursing, Post Master’s Certificate, Doctor of Nursing Practice, PhD in Nursing Science, and Health Systems Leadership (MSN HSL). The Clinical Coordinator will utilize knowledge of the Delaware Healthcare community to identify clinical sites needed to provide appropriate experiences to meet the clinical objectives of nursing graduate courses. The Clinical Coordinator will secure the clinical sites, assure affiliation agreements are in place for clinical placement, assure that clinical faculty and students are in compliance with all clinical requirements for their respective clinical placements, and assure that the graduate clinical courses are staffed with the needed number of qualified adjunct clinical instructors. This position will also participate in the department’s graduate recruiting program including managing recruitment events, fairs and corresponding with prospective with prospective graduate students throughout the inquiry, admissions, and matriculation processes.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Forecast, secure and assign students to preceptored, clinical rotation, and field experience clinical placements in collaboration with the Director of Graduate Programs, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Practice Initiatives, and faculty.
- Engage with outside agencies to build and maintain relationships for placement of nursing students in the clinical setting and attend meetings as required.
- Assure clinical placement documentation sent to placement agencies as required or requested.
- Oversee the completion and monitoring of the nursing students’ clinical mandatory requirements as indicated by the School of Nursing and clinical agencies for clinical placement.
- Manage student clinical placement issues as appropriate which include reporting of confidential student clinical issues as indicated, collaborating with the Director of Graduate Programs and clinical agencies to determine if a student can participate in clinical activities.
- Respond to telephone/email inquiries and provide initial/general information on Nursing graduate programs.
- Manage graduate admissions and provide support to the Director of Graduate Programs.
- Facilitate the recruitment and admission of a diverse group of highly talented graduate students.
- Admit and reject all applicants in the Slate system based on directions from the Director of Graduate Programs.
- Manage applicant data and create reports for program director’s review.
- Monitor the condition of the graduate program through periodic review and analysis.
- Seek clinical learning opportunities for graduate students.
- Serve as the initial advisor for all newly admitted graduate students until faculty mentors are identified.
- Initiate offer letters, orientation letter, and program information letter; track distribution of each letter to each student.
- Coordinate student funding each semester including student contractual agreements and student funding forms.
- Maintain files and data on graduate students, tracking TA, RA, GA, Advisor assignments.
- Monitor student progress to ensure successful degree completion.
- Track required forms and course completion, bringing any student that is falling behind to the attention of the Director of Graduate Programs.
- Coordinate applications for graduate awards, compile and disseminate award information to award committees for review.
- Maintain graduate programs website; monitor and update yearly in consultation with Graduate Program Director.
- In consultation with Director of Graduate Programs, liaise with representatives of the Graduate College regarding graduate student policies.
- Develop and maintain marketing initiatives.
- Tailor recruitment efforts to attract qualified and diverse applicant pools.
- Participate in on-site/off-site graduate recruitment events.
- Conduct post-graduation surveys and maintain post graduate statistics.
- Create and manage alumni development program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree with three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in a Nursing field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of curricula and the ability to translate the objectives to the clinical experience.
- Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
- Ability to make independent decisions and judgments in keeping with the level of the position.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, balance, and review a variety of projects that must be completed simultaneously and on time.
- Ability to communicate and interact with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds and to maintain a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Ability to use advanced techniques in word processing, spreadsheet, database, webpage, and presentation software.
- Ability to utilize current social media platforms.
