Job Description Summary
A Senior Research Investigator position is available in the Brodsky lab at the School of Veterinary Medicine.
Job Description
Job Responsibilities: The Research Investigator Sr (SRI) will act in a leadership role in the lab, overseeing and designing experiments in the area of innate immunity and anti-microbial host defense. He/She will assist the Principal Investigator and play a leading role in developing a research program in inflammation, cell death, and innate immune signaling, and will play a crucial role in development, implementation, and data analysis of studies in the lab. In the development stage, the successful individual will assess proposed projects by conducting feasibility studies to provide valuable input regarding viability, efficiency, timeline, and study design. In the implementation stage, he/she will supervise and perform the project. This includes overseeing workflow and productivity of lab personnel and providing training to them on specific techniques as necessary. Finally, the SRI will be responsible for data analysis, preparation of manuscripts, and presenting research findings through lab meetings, research in progress seminars, and attendance at local and national meetings. Senior Research Investigator must demonstrate the ability to analyze and present data in professional "publication ready" format and to be able to independently prepare manuscripts and grant writings for submission.
- Performing experiments for own project and assisting lab
trainees with experiments - providing advice, technical and
conceptual direction, and troubleshooting suggestions to lab
personnel.
- Data analysis, preparation of oral and written
presentations
- Lab management - assistance with ordering, lab organization,
maintenance of lab equipment
- Sharing and overseeing lab maintenance duties
- Cell culture and preparation, molecular cloning, western
blotting, ELISA, flow cytometry, infections
- Additional duties as needed/assigned
Education & Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Philosophy, and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
