Job Description
Under direction from the Director of Human Recourses with supervision of the Business Operations Manager (BOM), the Human Resources (HR) Specialist assists with coordinating the HR functions within Sun Devil Fitness and Wellness at the Sun Devil Fitness Complex. This position will primarily be responsible for the hiring of the departments’ student staff, which consists of approximately 600 students in various positions throughout the complex.

Essential Duties
Sun Devil Fitness and Wellness employs a large and dynamic staff of student workers. The HR Specialist supports SDFW in managing all hiring and onboarding of students while being expected to maintain all HR forms and folders along with tracking of all required trainings and certifications. The HR Specialist will also be required to manage and submit DTA.
Manage the SDFW payroll process for student staff:
- Ensuring maintenance of appropriate personnel records based on ASU, state and federal guidelines
- Oversee and manage the response to internal and external audit requests and prepare audit documents for HR and payroll audits
- Oversee full life cycle of student recruitment process
- Maintain onboarding process for required courses
- Perform I-9 eligibility checks during peak hiring seasons.
- Process all terminations of student and removing them from all applicable systems.
- Perform all activities associated with Department Time Administrator (DTA) to ensure accurate and timely recording of exceptions and positive time for SDFW student staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure continual efficient operations of department to meet customer service needs
Days and Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm, with a few possible weekend and evening hours to support peak hiring seasons and/or special SDFW events.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND two (2) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

- Experience working in BrassRing for student hiring
- Experience working in PeopleSoft with HR transactions such as additional pay, terminations, and promotions
- Experience with Data Entry in Excel and Google Sheets
- Experience working in SubItUp
- Experience working in a higher education environment
- Experience with the Department Time Administrator process
- Experience in planning, analyzing and establishing priorities
- Evidence of effective communication skills
- Experience in working effectively in an environment subject to quickly changing priorities, sensitive/confidential information and short deadlines
- Experience working in a customer service environment
- Experience in working effectively and collaboratively with faculty and staff
Working Environment
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%). Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (5%). Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.; Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.; This position receives regular review of objectives by department administrator.
