About the Opportunity

The division of Information Technology Services is looking for a talented individual to fill the role of a Systems & Data Integration Developer. The person is responsible for the analysis, design, development, and implementation of business-critical enterprise data and integration projects for Northeastern University. You will be part of a cross-functional team that's responsible for the full software development life cycle from conception to deployment. Additional contributions will include legacy data integration maintenance, technical design documentation, and communication of designed solutions to business partners. Collaboration is crucial with all participants inclusive of project managers, developers, business analysts, technical administrators, testers, and program management. Responsibilities will include work on systems and programs typically covering two or more functions, large single functions, or major portions of large functions, interfacing with other complex systems and programs. As a customer focused service, the Integration Developer will be responsible for Tier-2 customer support services related to enterprise data applications.

To ensure that essential services are provided to the university community, the employee will be required to work outside their regular working hours as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems, or related IT field with coursework in an information technology specialization related to data modeling.
  • Ability to interact with customers in a sensitive and diplomatic manner, maintaining positive relationships and building consensus on project goals.
  • Good analytic skills and the judgment to make effective decisions on courses of action needed to complete appropriate projects.
  • Comfortable with various project management styles
  • 2 years experience related to data integration, data modeling, and data transformation utilizing enterprise-level ETL tools platform
  • 2 years experience working with relational databases and NoSQL DB (i.e., Oracle, MSSQL, Snowflake, Mongo DB, Dynamo DB)
  • 2 years experience SQL coding including stored procedures, triggers, performance tuning, SQL optimization, data archiving, table partitioning, and indexes
  • 2 years designing & developing RESTful web services utilizing programming languages such as Node.js or Java
  • Experience with Code repos - Branching, merging, deploying such as GitHub
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, and capable of responsibly maintaining schedules for time-sensitive projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • The following qualifications are highly desired
    • Informatica Cloud Platform tools
    • Informatica Power Center
    • Experience with an API Gateway, such as Apigee
    • Salesforce.com and its suite of products (Service Cloud, Tableau, etc.) preferred
    • Banner for Higher Ed
    • Experience in database administration and analyzing impact of underlying data structural changes
    • Snowflake data lake
    • Cast Iron integration tool (also called IBM's App Connect)
    • Kafka data streaming
    • Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud / GCP
    • Experience with container technologies such as Docker
    • ITIL awareness with a platform such as ServiceNow and Jira
    • Testing automation tools such as TestRail


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Integration Development

As a member of the integration team , the integration developer works with technical and functional groups to provide systems analysis and design in support of integration development identified by specific user groups. Document technical and design specifications. Develop, unit test, and support integration applications using state of the art software.

Support

Provide Tier-2 customer support related to integration applications. Identify and perform root cause analysis if reported incidents. Serve as a technical contact to other ITS groups and University business units.

Professional Development

Includes learning new integration technologies and processes and patterns and professional growth.
