Brief Summary of Work for this Position

The Congdon School of Supply Chain, Business Analytics, and Information Systems within the Cameron School of Business seeks an outstanding faculty member for a Distinguished Professorship in Information Systems. This is a nine-month tenured position at the rank of full professor, scheduled to begin the Fall Semester of 2024. This position is for an initial five-year term, and upon review, the distinguished professor is eligible to receive an unlimited renewable five-year appointment. This Distinguished Professorship in Information Systems is a prestigious designation for a faculty member who has earned prominence for scholarly and professional achievements in information systems research. The Distinguished Professor will be responsible for teaching in the information systems discipline, scholarly research, and practice that advances the understanding of information systems.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

1. Ph.D. in information systems from an AACSB -accredited or equivalent business school.
2. Active and internationally recognized research record and the ability and willingness to interact with the information systems academic community and engage in scholarly outreach.
3. Ability and willingness to teach in at least two of the following areas: Database and data management, systems analysis, software development, cybersecurity, IS/IT infrastructure, and IS/IT management.
4. Ability and willingness to mentor junior faculty colleagues to enhance the Congdon School research productivity and work collaboratively with colleagues in the Congdon School and Cameron School of Business.
5. Meaningful agendas for research, grant writing, teaching, engagement, and service to the information systems discipline that will bring distinction to UNCW, the Cameron School of Business, and the Congdon School.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

1. Evidence of a distinguished record of teaching face-to-face and online courses at graduate and undergraduate levels.
2. Leadership activity in preparing undergraduate and graduate information systems students for professional careers and the ability and willingness to enhance the quality and standing of the information systems and related programs at UNCW .
3. Experience and success in securing grant funding.
4. Experience and ability to engage with the business community on matters related to information systems, including the ability and willingness to play an active role on the Congdon School’s information systems advisory board.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The Congdon School of Supply Chain, Business Analytics, and Information Systems is part of UNCW’s Cameron School of Business. It supports the B.S. in Business Administration with concentrations in Business Analytics, Information Systems, and Supply Chain Management, the B.S. in Information Technology, and the B.S. in Cybersecurity. At the graduate level, the school supports the MBA, M.S. in Computer Science and Information Systems, M.S. in Business Analytics, and M.S. in Supply Chain Management.
