Job Description:

The Staffing Coordinator is responsible for coordinating schedules of nursing staff on all patient care units including integrating contingency staff. Provides support services through assisting staff in carrying out procedures of the office.

All employees must adhere to the following at all times:
• Employee is expected to adhere to UTMC Service Values including iCare standards at all times.
• Adheres to hospital policies and procedures as well as addresses patient safety, performance improvement, and quality of care issues. (List operational departmental focus for patient safety).
• Knowledgeable about patient safety and quality of care issues. Able to recognize safety issues in the department and handles incidents per institutional and/or departmental policies and procedures. If safety issues were identified; all issues were handled timely and appropriately.
• Employee attends and follows all department specific safety education and training in an effort to create a safe work environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years secretarial experience or minimum of 2 years completed in a healthcare field of study required.
• Previous experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience working for an inpatient healthcare organization preferred.
• Ability to write legibly, speak articulately and follow directions accurately.
• Knowledge and/or experience with filing systems and CRT or terminal keyboard preferred.
• Previous experience requiring medical terminology or successfully completed a medical terminology course preferred.
• Ability to type and posses a good working knowledge of the rules of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
• Previous experience scheduling nursing or patient care related staffing preferred.
• Previous experience with the API scheduling system or similar system strongly preferred.
