Position Summary

The University of Georgia ( UGA ) seeks an innovative, collaborative, and creative faculty member to serve as a Lecturer within the Division of Academic Enhancement ( DAE ). The DAE is a unit of the Office of Instruction ( OVPI ) whose central mission is to provide campus-wide leadership, collaboration, and support on matters related to instruction.

Serving as a Lecturer and as a certified Academic coach, this 100% instructional position will teach a maximum of a four-four load (Fall and Spring semesters) with the UNIV curriculum. This is a 10 month faculty position. As needs dictate, the load may be decreased to allow for alternative instructional duties. There is potential for summer salary support through the summer course offerings by the Division. The Lecturer will also collaborate closely with fellow faculty, the Assistant Head of Faculty, and the Director of the DAE in the innovation of the UNIV curricula and across relevant DAE services, programs, and initiatives including but not limited to; first through forth-year courses and workshops, Peer-Learning Assistants training, Academic Coaching, etc. Purposeful integration within programming beyond the curricula will enhance the experiences and overall success of UGA’s students served by the DAE, as well as create synergy among-faculty and staff of the Division.

Minimum Qualifications

An earned Ph.D. by the end of the Spring 2023.

Additional Requirements
  • Three years or more of significant research in or practical experience with active learning, student development, student in transition, peer-learning, or in issues related to access, success, persistence, and affordability.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
  • University level teaching history;
  • Prior success designing, developing, and sustaining new curricula and/or co-curricular programs.
  • Background engaging with students pursuing a STEM -related degree.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Knowledge of student learning outcomes and course-/program-level evaluation;
  • Evidence of an active research agenda associated with student learning, success, development, or higher education.
  • Established record of teaching history in student success.
  • Applied understanding of active learning pedagogy and student development as well as knowledge of student learning outcomes
  • Successful record of collaboration and innovation higher education.
  • Ability to work in a transdisciplinary department and curriculum.
  • Willingness to engage a variety of service projects
  • Evidence of excellent written, oral, and/or visual communication skills.
