Description

We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to join the LearnLab at Carnegie Mellon University. The postdoc will collaborate with other lab members and state educational agencies on an externally funded project to use computational modeling and student data to improve state assessments. The project is led by Drs Ken Koedinger and Paulo Carvalho who will serve as co-advisers for the postdoc. The postdoc will also have ample opportunities to develop their own independent lines of research in the lab.

The postdoc will be involved in all aspects of the research, including data collection and analysis, and working with state assessment teams to develop novel analytics and interventions. The postdoc will contribute to mentoring students who work on the project. The postdoc will have a major role in publishing and presenting scientific results at major conferences.

The postdoc will also be strongly encouraged to apply for external funding in order to develop their funding portfolio. Teaching opportunities are also available if the postdoc would like to develop their pedagogical skills. The position would start as soon as possible.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience in research related to education, programming skills (e.g., R and/or Python), strong project management skills, be highly motivated to publish first-author papers and work well in a team environment.

PhD in Cognitive Science, Learning Science, Computer Science, or Information Systems, or related fields required.
