Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Operation of the Athletic Training facilities through appropriate scheduling, overseeing completion of all necessary daily tasks essential to the function of the Athletic Training facility.
- Coordinating site coverage and supervising the completion of all scheduled rehabilitation / treatment appointments.
- Serve as head athletic trainer.
- Management of medical records and health care of all athletes. Designing, administrating, and supervising rehabilitation programs for injured athletes. Evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of major and minor injuries.
- Management of Sports Medicine budget.
- Maintaining current inventory, submission of purchase orders for all necessary supplies, ensuring all equipment and supplies meet all requirements and receive proper maintenance / regular service.
- Work closely with network of team physicians to ensure the highest level of care for student athletes.
- Collaborate with local medical providers.
- Maintaining all information pertinent to insurance claims, including submission of reports for athletic injuries.
- Hiring and Supervision of NATA Certified Athletic Trainers and Graduate Student Intern Athletic Trainers.
- Scheduling and supervision of Student Athletic Trainers.
- Hiring and supervision of College Work Study Students.
- Collaborate with other educational institutions and educational programs to pursue opportunities for students.
- Management of all events occurring on home facilities with respect to Sports Medicine needs and equipment, Including but not limited to securing EMS coverage, coordinating with grounds crews, scheduling event AT coverage, and site set-up. Work closely with visiting teams to ensure essential needs in the Sports Medicine area.
- Perform other appropriate duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Required Education
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in athletic training, physical therapy, kinesiology, health education, sports medicine or other directly related field. Master’s degree or higher in related field preferred.
Required Licenses and/or Certifications
Current certification from the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification NATA / BOC or successor organization. West Virginia Athletic Training registration. Must hold current CPR / AED certification.
Minimum Required Qualifications
A minimum of 5-7 years of related athletic trainer experience and program coordination, including supervisory experience over athletic trainers.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience at the NCAA Division II level; experience with sports of football and wrestling.
