Harvard University seeks applications for a Preceptor in Geospatial
Analysis. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2023. The
Preceptor will be responsible for designing and teaching
introductory undergraduate and graduate courses in geospatial
analysis, including geographic information systems (GIS), global
positioning systems (GPS), remote sensing and related geospatial
science and technology, primarily for students in the social
sciences and environmental sciences. In addition, work in
collaboration with faculty and the Center for Geographic Analysis
staff to coordinate and enhance a non-credit training program for
teaching the development and application of geospatial analytics
tools and geographic data.
The position is for one year, renewable on a yearly basis for up to eight years, contingent on performance, enrollments, curricular need, and divisional dean approval.
MA or Ph.D. in geography, geographic information science, or other relevant fields. Knowledge of geospatial science and technology; familiarity with current major GIS, GPS and remote sensing software packages; proficient in at least one product suite in each category; experience in the customization and implementation of geospatial technology in at least one, preferably two or more disciplines; experience in course material development and classroom instruction; spatial modeling and spatial statistics expertise highly desirable. Hands-on experience with big data analytics, high performance computing and GeoAI a plus.
