Job Summary

Elmhurst University invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication & Media, specifically with a background in game design and/or animation. Interest and experience developing curricula and working in interdisciplinary programs, as well as teaching across departments, is a plus but not required. Main teaching responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Introduction to Art Softwares, Principles of Animation, Game and Animation Concept Art, Computer Game Design, 3D Modeling, Three Dimensional Computer Game Design, Digital Media Capstone, as well as upper division electives within the field. Evidence of outstanding teaching or teaching potential is essential. The teaching load is six courses per year. Candidates should have a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environments for a diverse student body. A terminal degree required by September 1, 2023.

Essential Functions

Teach 6 classes a year in the areas of game and animation, participate in academic service to the program and department, advise the game and animation students within the digital media program, and continue own research and scholarship.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Be an active member of the EU community, participating in school and university wide committees, mentoring students within the game and animation area of the digital media program, and helping work on curricular changes related to the game and animation portions of the programs.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object. Occasional evening and weekend obligations.
