Senior Custodian

• The Senior Custodian performs all facets of custodial and maintenance duties including cleaning, landscaping, preventative maintenance, equipment repair, event preparations and breakdowns, office moves, and snow and ice clearing at all College facilities and grounds. Reporting to the Custodial Supervisor, the Senior Custodian is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, hygienic, and aesthetically appealing environment for the College Community.
  
  POSITION SUMMARY
  
  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  

• Performs general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and waxing floors, vacuuming, dusting, and upkeep of all bathrooms
• Assists in cleaning outside surfaces including windows, facades, entryways, signs, fixtures, sidewalks and roads; removes snow and ice and applies salt
• Pressure washes exterior surfaces and building facades • Collects and transports waste and recycling to appropriate disposal locations
• Prepares and breaks down college events
• Coordinates and performs office and furniture moves and logistics
• Re-lamps light fixtures
• Performs fire watch
• Adheres to safety procedures and follows Safety Data Sheets (SDS) at all times and reports unsafe conditions to Supervisors/Managers
• Inspects and policies general areas of the College for cleanliness/safety and reports irregularities
• Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs cleaning equipment and tools
• Performs minor maintenance services such as tightening loose nuts and bolts, painting, etc.
• Mounts and hangs fixtures, pictures, graphics, and decorations
• Performs grounds work including mowing, landscaping bed cleanup, leaf blowing, snow removal, and trimming/pruning
• Performs all duties of Head Custodian and/or Supervisor in his/her absence
• Responds to emergencies, as required, which may include working off-hours or holidays
• Performs additional tasks as assigned

SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 3 years of related experience preferred

EDUCATION: High School diploma or the equivalent required

Must have a valid Driver’s License

• Demonstrated leadership, management, multi-tasking, and project management skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of facility operations, custodial, maintenance, and industry standards
• Knowledge of power and hand tools, landscaping equipment, pool maintenance and associated safety procedures
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google business suite (including Gmail) experience preferred
• Provides excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS

• Prolonged periods walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, or kneeling on uneven surfaces
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
• Able to work in unconditioned, noisy, dimly light, confined, and odorous spaces, including the ability to work in variable and sometimes extreme weather conditions such as rain, snow, storms, heat, cold, and other weather indigenous to the area
• Be able to see small objects, work alone, and twist objects (including but not limited to brooms and brushes)
• Be able to work at heights on ladders, scaffolding, or lifts for extended periods of time
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) for prolonged periods of time
• Must be fit-tested and capable of wearing a respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA)
• Must be able to climb a ladder and work at heights for extended periods of time
