SUNY Broome Community College is a comprehensive community college located in the scenic Southern Tier of New York.  The College has over 7,700 students annually, and services over 6,100 students per semester in Liberal Arts, Business & Professional Studies, Health Sciences, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs.  An additional 1,600 students are served through the College's community education and non-credit programs.

Job Description:

SUNY Broome Community College is currently accepting applications for a part-time, 12-month Technical Assistant IIA in the Nursing Department.  This part-time position is contingent upon annual funding.  The part-time Technical Assistant IIA works under the direct supervision of the Associate Dean for Nursing, and is not responsible for primary instructional assignments.  This position is 28 hours per week and requires working some combination of days/evenings/weekends.

Duties will include:

  • Sets up and assists with operating Nursing Skills Center simulation and other equipment during simulation and lab sessions; shuts down and stores equipment appropriately after sessions; ensures equipment is properly maintained.
  • Conducts and maintains records of continuing maintenance of all simulation and lab equipment and communicates with manufacturers as needed.
  • Assists with preparation of and takedown of lab sessions, and with stocking supplies and ensuring inventory is sufficient to meet lab needs.
  • Remains current with technical skills and knowledge related to existing and newly acquired Nursing Skills Center simulation and lab equipment and provides faculty with support in use of simulation equipment.

Requirements:

An Associate's degree in a related field is required for this position.

Working knowledge of simulation manikins and technology is highly preferred.  The Technical Assistant IIA works closely with nursing faculty and staff in the laboratory setting.

Additional Information:

The hourly rate of this position is $26.13.
