Research Assistant Professor



Applications are invited for appointment as a Research Assistant Professor in the Sau Po Centre on Ageing within the Faculty of Social Sciences (to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)

Sau Po Centre on Ageing is a rapidly expanding centre that aims to become a leading research centre on gerontology in Greater China and the Asia Pacific region. We are committed to the enhancement of the well-being and quality of life of older adults and their caregivers through research, education, and knowledge exchange activities. Applicants should have a PhD degree in gerontology, social sciences, health science or a related discipline with at least 5 years’ research experience. They should demonstrate a deep understanding of the application of longitudinal data for outcome research and modelling (well-being and/or psychosocial impacts), with an established record of publications. Experience of developing and validating psychometric scales, evaluating complex interventions, and participating in research projects related to family caregivers of older adults and/or cost-effectiveness evaluation will be an advantage. An excellent command of written and spoken English and Cantonese is required. They should be familiar with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, Stata) and MS Office applications (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.). The applicants should be organized, self-motivated and with excellent communication skills. Experience in stakeholder management and leadership roles in the research team will be an advantage.

The appointee will conduct high-impact research related to family caregivers of older adults and manage a territory-wide caregiver support project. He/She will lead the project team, under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, Professor Vivian W. Q. Lou, to analyze existing secondary data and the project data to evaluate the outcomes of various interventions in establishing a multi-component service delivery model to improve family caregivers’ wellbeing. He/She will also collaborate closely with international and community experts in this area. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.
