Engagement Coordinator



Position Summary:

Calling all creative enthusiasts! What have you gained from your global and intercultural experiences? How do you exhibit what it means to be a global citizen? The University of Dayton Global and Intercultural Affairs (GIA) Center is looking for a member to join their team that has a passion for international education and engaging multiple audiences in diverse ways. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, excellent communicator, culturally sensitive and technically savvy. Hybrid and/or flexible work options available. A 10 to 12-month role within the academic year is negotiable.

The Engagement Coordinator will be part of a highly collaborative team, supporting four departments across the Center, with a primary focus to create, execute and optimize an engagement strategy for multiple audiences (internal and external) and through various modes (website, newsletter, reports, proposals, grants, social media, programming). Responsibilities include but are not limited to developing and editing content for print and digital materials, oversight of website and social media presence, coordination of newsletter and blog, and management of graphic, video and photo library.

In addition, the Engagement Coordinator will support programming and education by coordinating initiatives that bring U.S. and international students together and highlight the benefits of global and intercultural education. Reporting to a Senior Director in the GIA Center, this individual will also support other special projects and administrative functions for the Global Education team.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, English, Communication, International Studies or related field
-Experience coordinating and developing written, print and digital marketing projects
-Strong attention to detail
-Strong project management and technical skills
-Diplomatic and ability to navigate an environment with diverse perspectives
-Strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to engage audiences creatively
-Intercultural awareness and understanding of culturally appropriate language, tone and visuals

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

-Two years of relevant experience
-Intermediate knowledge of Cascade Management System (or other website management system), MailChimp, Hootesuite, Canva, Creative Cloud, Adobe Suite, and social media platforms
-Experience building and nurturing relationships in a diverse, highly collaborative and consultative environment
-Creative thinker and problem solver with positive outlook and comfort with fast paced, changing, customer service-oriented environment
-Management and mentorship experience
-Passion for and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
-Knowledge of and sensitively to a Catholic Marianist work environment

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide. With this development, the University will pause any enforcement action against employees who have not complied with the requirement to be fully vaccinated by Dec. 8, 2021 or to have requested an exemption to maintain their employment status.

The University will continue to monitor the state of the pandemic on campus and in the community as well as developments in federal and state requirements, and also will continue to regularly consult with public health officials and our medical panel. As has been the case throughout the pandemic, our protocols and requirements are subject to change depending on conditions on campus or in our community, and government requirements.
