Position Summary

The College of Arts and Letters has 18 academic departments, twelve interdisciplinary programs, 19 centers and institutes, the Social Science Research Laboratory, and one joint doctoral program. With approximately 475 permanent faculty and associated lecturers, the College is the largest of the seven colleges at San Diego State University and is responsible for 29% of the instruction at the university. There are approximately 60 clerical and technical employees in the college. The Dean's Office is responsible for the implementation and continued support of the instructional, research, and development processes in the college.

The Dean's clerical staff consists of three Administrative Analyst/Specialists, two Administrative Support Coordinator IIs, as well as work study and student assistant positions.

The Class Schedule and RTP Coordinator (Administrative Analyst/Specialist) coordinates class schedule production for the entire college and oversees the Reappointment, Tenure, and Promotions process, as well as all processes related to instructional facilities, faculty periodic evaluations, faculty workload reporting, faculty assigned time, and enrollment data tracking.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.

Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego.

Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods.

This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Specialized Skills

  • Thorough understanding of CSU policies and practices for class scheduling; assigned time; and the faculty reappointment, tenure, and promotions process.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum one year experience building and modifying class schedules in an academic program at SDSU or other CSU campus.

  • Minimum one year experience working with faculty reappointment, tenure, and promotion policies.

  • Thorough understanding of university policies and timetables related to reappointment, tenure, promotion, and periodic evaluations.

  • Knowledge of assigned time policies and practices.

  • Experience working with SDSU's student information management systems.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,500 per month.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,518 - $6,791 per month.
