Job Description:

The Information Technology & Sciences division at Champlain College seeks Computer Science adjunct faculty for the Fall 2023 semester: August 28, 2023 - December 15, 2023. Classes are held on campus in Burlington, Vermont for 75 minutes, twice a week. Days and times vary but are generally flexible enough to accommodate adjuncts' schedules. Applicants should live within commuting distance of the Burlington, VT campus.

Champlain College fosters a career-focused hands-on learning environment. Our classes are generally very interactive and faculty are encouraged to bring meaningful experiences to the classroom. We are seeking applicants who can teach in the areas of introductory C++ programming, introductory web development (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript), and introductory Python programming.

Sample Course Descriptions

CSI 140 - Introduction to Programming (C++)

Students learn the history and basics of computing, as well as the fundamentals of programming. General topics include: the history of computing, number systems and classical computing, Boolean logic, algorithm design and implementation, and modern computer organization. Programming topics include: memory and variables, mathematical operations, basic input and output, decision making, repetitions, functions, and arrays.

CSI 160 - Python Programming

Students will learn the history and basics of computing as well as the fundamentals of Python programming. General topics include: the history of computing, number systems, Boolean logic, algorithm design and implementation, and modern computer organization. Programming topics include: memory and variables, data types, mathematical operations, basic file I/O, decision-making, repetitions, functions, and list basics.


Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree with related experience is required. A Master's degree in a related field, relevant experience, and teaching experience is preferred.
