Position Summary: The Admissions Counselor promotes Washburn University Institute of Technology (Washburn Tech) to prospective students and organizations. Works to increase inquiries and convert applications into enrolled students. Manages a recruitment territory by contacting, visiting, and informing prospective students and stakeholders about educational opportunities at Washburn Tech. This position is highly integral to the continued growth and vibrancy of the institution and will administer all aspects of the college search and admissions process with prospective high school and post-secondary students. This position works with other staff to assure enrollment goals are met regarding applications, acceptances, and enrolled students. Recruitment travel and some evening and weekend hours are required.

Essential Functions:
1. Territory Management & Recruitment Function

Territory Management: Interpret and analyze data from completed recruitment activities to determine those that were the most successful in improving overall yield and establish goals for the approaching recruitment year. Develop and implement a territory recruitment plan to maximize recruitment efforts for an assigned territory and enhance support of overall admission goals. Document all student interactions and information that will be beneficial to the recruitment, reporting, and student success processed. Compile and assess data, develop and prepare reports on recruitment activities, successes, and challenges to Associate Director of Tech Admissions, Student Services, and other administrators.

Recruitment: Schedule visits to high schools, deliver presentations, and participate in career/college fairs and other recruitment events to communicate the educational opportunities available at Washburn Tech to diverse external populations, i.e., prospective students, parents, alumni, high school counselors, and community stakeholders. Work with other Admissions staff as appropriate to plan, organize, and coordinate recruitment activities. Host prospective students during campus visits, open houses, and other on-campus events to help visitors get to know the Washburn Tech campus and learn about the opportunities that Washburn Tech has to offer. Provide counsel to prospective students with regard to financial options in a conscientious manner.

Recruitment Communications: Communicate with prospective students, school administrators, school counselors, and other vital decision makers in the career and college planning process. Follow-up via telephone, written, and e-mail communication. Utilize current technologies to develop and nurture relations that will encourage enrollment.

Working closely with the Associate Director of Tech Admissions, develop, implement, and manage strategies that implement and progressively grow Washburn Tech's enrollment to meet strategic planning priorities. Develop and nurture relationships with project managers, business leaders, HR representatives, and community leaders to identify opportunities for post-secondary recruitment. Learn about education fairs and other opportunities for presentations and contact to promote enrollment at Washburn Tech. Work with regional Kansas Workforce Centers to identify and develop opportunities for reaching prospective students through Workforce Center programs and networks.

Answer questions and provide direction via phone, email, and/or in person to advise and assist students throughout the enrollment process.

2. Additional Admissions and Institute Involvement and Support

Assist other Student Services staff, instructors, administrators, and other stakeholders as appropriate to plan and coordinate events such as Open House, Orientation, National Letter of Intent Signing Day, and other events to ensure the success of each event. Compile and assess participant evaluation data and make recommendations for future events.

Build relationships with faculty and staff. Serve on University and Institute committees to represent the Office and Department.

Perform additional job duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree (or degree completion by end of semester of hire).
Proven ability to multi-task and handle a variety of assignments. Commitment to participate in professional activities and organizations related to admissions and enrollment. Flexibility to work irregular hours including some evenings and occasional weekends.
Valid Driver's License with driving record acceptable to the University.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to travel for extended periods, to move and/or maneuver materials weighing as much as 30 pounds, and to develop rapport and relationships with a variety of individuals including those from under-represented and diverse student populations.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in technical school admissions, higher education, and/or collegiate activities.
Experience in market or sales.
Experience using Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) software.
Ability to speak and understand Spanish.

Full time, Exempt, Mon-Fri, 7:30am - 4:30pm (occasional weekends and evenings)
