The Department of Urologic Surgery at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, seeks to recruit for a full-time faculty general urologist with a focus on both office and surgical treatment of general urologic cases. This position will be in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series at the Assistant rank. The Health Sciences Professor series is designed to meet the University’s missions in ways that are unique to the health sciences disciplines through teaching, professional activity, scholarly or creative activity and University and public service.

Expectations

Successful candidate will have the foundation, preparation, and vision to pursue a productive career in academic urology. The candidate will have strong clinical skills to manage and provide surgical treatment in all aspects of urology. This includes but not limited to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), hematuria, prostate disease, urinary tract infections, inflammatory and infectious diseases of the urinary and genital tract, male/female urinary incontinence, vasectomies, and minimally invasive procedures. The candidate will have teaching responsibilities that include teaching and supervision of various learners such as medical students, residents, fellows, and PA/NP students. Participation in appropriate professional societies and educational organizations is expected as well as providing service to department and school committees to fulfil University and public service and scholarly and creative activity achievements.

The candidate must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment that fosters multidisciplinary patient care, adhere to University policies and procedures, and be sensitive to the needs of patients from diverse backgrounds.

This recruitment is conducted at the assistant rank. The resulting hire will be at the assistant rank, regardless of the proposed appointee’s qualifications.

Salary will be based upon experience and qualifications. The salary range for this position is $148,000-$199,100. This position may include membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. The salary range listed is for starting base compensation only and may be adjusted depending on qualifications and experience. The salary range does not include variable compensation and is subject to the individual department compensation plan.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they are legally authorized to work in the United States. The University will not offer sponsorship of a visa for this position.

Qualifications

Candidate must possess or be eligible for the following:

  • M.D. degree Board certified or board-eligible in Urology
  • Medical licensure or eligible for licensure in the State of California
  • Completion of an ACGME accredited urology training program
  • Experience providing clinical services in all areas of urology
  • Evidence of experience with teaching
  • Demonstrated evidence of professional and/or scholarly achievement and activity
  • The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they are legally authorized to work in the United States. The University will not offer sponsorship of a visa for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated minimally invasive surgical techniques

The Department of Urologic Surgery at UC Davis Medical Center is a busy academic practice with expertise encompassing all areas of urologic surgery. We have an accredited 5-year urologic surgery residency and matriculate 2/3 residents per year. UC Davis Medical Center is located in Sacramento, California, and is the main tertiary referral center and the region’s only Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma center. The hospital has 646 beds, with busy inpatient and outpatient surgical facilities.
