Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Sociology Department at Wheaton College (MA) seeks applicants to fill a Professor of Practice in the Criminal Justice, Restorative Justice, and Criminology ( CJRJC ) program . This is an exciting opportunity for an engaged and practice-oriented scholar to participate in the development of a new program. The Professor of Practice is a renewable position with a variable course load depending on service duties. The position does not carry research expectations in evaluation, though candidates should feel welcomed and supported to continue or begin research agendas.

We seek a candidate with a specialization in at least one of the following, but we welcome intersections between: criminal justice, restorative justice and/or criminology. In addition to this, we would particularly welcome candidates that also have a specialization in race/ethnicity and/or transnational/global sociology. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the Coordinator of the CJRJC program to develop this new major and to advise students within that program.

Review of applications will begin March 3rd, 2023 and continue until the position is filled. The position will begin Fall 2023 for a full-time one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal, following successful annual evaluation.
