This position will work collaboratively with the Assistant Vice President Development – Robinson College to implement and manage a fundraising and donor relations program for the J. Mack Robinson College of Business. This individual has primary responsibility for identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donor prospects of $50,000 and above. The position will work closely with the School of Accountancy and the WomenLead programs as well as other programs within the college.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior development officer for the Robinson College of Business in the growth of the College’s major gift fundraising program.
  • Provide expertise and guidance in identifying fundraising needs and priorities through collaboration with the AVP for Development in the College of Business, dean, department chairs and faculty to develop major gift fundraising plans and strategies; establish realistic and achievable timelines; remain current with fundraising trends, and serve as a resource on successful development activities, techniques, and methods. Conduct visits to qualify, cultivate and solicit individual donors to increase philanthropic giving.
  • Meet annual fundraising goals and assist in meeting unit goal while allocating and prioritizing time and resources to achieve the greatest return on investment.
  • Performance and productivity will be measured on the following core metrics, which may change annually: Dollars raised for cash and in-kind gifts, number of major gift solicitations of $25,000+, and number of major gift proposals closed at $25,000+. It is expected that most of the philanthropic support come from individuals rather than corporations and foundations at gifts of $50,000+.
  • Serve as a resource with University Advancement units (e.g., Corporate and Foundation Relations, Donor Engagement & Communications, Planned Giving, and Prospect Research & Management) and other university units to ensure operational efficiencies within the unit.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior development staff across the university.
  • Adhere to confidentiality and data usage policy for the division.
  • This position requires a high level of commitment and enthusiasm. Due to long-distance travel requirements and mandatory events attendance, this position requires a willingness to work extended hours as needed.
  • Perform related work as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years of superior performance in face-to-face solicitation of gifts of $50,000 or more or equivalent experience in a related field; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five to eight years of experience working as a fundraising professional in direct major donor solicitations of $50,000 or more with a focus on individual donors.
  • Direct experience preparing proposals and conducting major gift solicitations.
  • Preference is given to candidates with experience in a higher education setting.
