Job Summary:

Marist is seeking a self-starting, storytelling, emotion-provoking Assistant Director of Content Marketing and Communications that works directly with the Director of Marketing and the Director of Media Relations to elevate and advance the college’s reputation and brand awareness among all key audiences. This candidate will serve the College’s strategic marketing and communications needs by assisting in managing the editorial calendar, creating content for the Marist website and social media channels and working to develop ideas for earned media placements. The ideal candidate will have a "whatever it takes" attitude and will be able to quickly develop and implement compelling and high-impact content for owned and earned media that supports efforts to attract the best students, to motivate alumni, parents and donors and to attract world-class faculty and staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of related work experience in public relations, lead generation and marketing
  • Flawless editor who can ensure error-less materials and content are produced
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills; flawless editing to support clear ideas
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, public relations, marketing or a related field
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Self-starter who thrives in ambiguous environments and adapts easily to change
  • Able to work under pressure quickly, effectively, and efficiently
Essential Functions:
  • Bring a positive and can-do approach in assisting the Director of Marketing and Media Relations in managing the editorial calendar to ensure new website stories and profiles are continually being generated
  • Support the communications department to provide high-quality narrative content, compelling storytelling, and clear and consistent information
  • Build strong relationships and work directly with faculty and other internal stakeholders to identify timely and relevant newsworthy research, announcements and potential events that will build awareness of and support the College’s mission and the advancement of Marist
  • Produce ideas to assist with the content strategy for video in collaboration with Director for Digital Content and Director of Media Relations
  • Assists in creating content for the Marist website and social media channels
  • Develop ideas for earned media placements
  • Support the Director of Marketing and Media Relations by developing and maintaining close working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, as well as media outlets, in the development of newsworthy announcements
  • Draft executive-level briefing documents, speeches and messaging
  • Supervise student workers and assign content production tasks, editing copy for outreach and handling all administrative tasks related to student workers
  • Provide content support for marketing and lead generation campaigns
  • Update websites and create new website pages and campaign landing pages
  • Work closely with IT on developing new website functionality
  • Copy edit, fact check and advise on all content produced by the Marketing and Communications Department
  • All other duties as assigned

The Office of College Marketing and Communication has a primary focus to build national awareness of Marist and contribute to the growth of new student enrollment. The office achieves this by supporting and strengthening the Marist brand through thoughtful storytelling, editorials, videos, photography and creative visuals, and by collaborating with partners and our College community.
