The Opportunity

The Center for Underground seeks outstanding applicants for a Research Assistant Professor position focused on slurry and earth pressure balance tunnel boring machine and drilling soil testing and analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Manage, conduct, and participate in various research studies in slurry and earth pressure balance tunnel boring machine and drilling soil testing and analysis
  • Prepare and submit proposals/budgets to acquire new funding
  • Prepare write, review, and edit research reports refereed journal articles, conference papers, research summaries, and status/progress reports
  • Prepare and provide technical presentations for research
  • Author and submit manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals for dissemination of results
  • Mentor undergraduate and Ph.D. students efficiently and assist with their publications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in civil-geotechnical engineering, or closely related field, plus a minimum of 2 years of research experience in slurry and earth pressure balance tunnel boring machine and drilling soil testing and analysis
  • At least two years of post-doctoral experience
  • Must be able to work on several projects simultaneously
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • English language proficiency

Pay Range

$65,000 - $75,000 per year

Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
