The International Affairs Program at Skidmore College invites applications for a 1-year, full-time position at the rank of Lecturer/Visiting Assistant Professor with expertise in culture, specifically in the intersections of race, gender and class in International Affairs, and a regional focus on Latin America or Africa. We seek a colleague from the humanities and/or social sciences who can deliver an intermediate interdisciplinary course in global culture, an interdisciplinary research methods course, 2 electives in their area of expertise, as well as help deliver the program’s core senior capstone course.

The position carries a teaching load of eighteen faculty workload credits per year (five courses over two semesters). All teaching is at the undergraduate level.

Qualifications:

Interested candidates must be ABD or have completed their PhD. They must also have some independent teaching experience and be able to offer evidence of teaching competence at the undergraduate level.

Required documents needed to apply:

The cover letter must focus on the candidate’s teaching philosophy and experience, and their preparation for teaching the kinds of courses described above, including prospective elective offerings . It must also include a brief explanation of how the candidate’s teaching interests, and pedagogy engage questions of cultural diversity, and how their courses would foster active learning, inclusive discussion, and global awareness.

Pay Range: Commensurate with experience
