The Software and Societal Systems Department is searching for a Research Associate to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by supporting research on understanding characteristics of machine learning applications released as open-source application. In addition, you will explore source code and documentation, and analyze characteristics following a rubric developed by the research team, and contribute to the writing of a research paper on the subject.

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Analysis of open-source projects.
• Analysis of machine-learning code and machine learning integration in software products.
• Measurement of custom software engineering metrics.
• Qualitative analysis of developer practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Programming proficiency in popular programming languages (Java, Python, Javascript).
• Understanding of software engineering concerns with regard to deploying machine learning systems.
• Familiarity with open-source development and community practices.
• Experience in qualitative empirical research methods.
• Teamwork skills.
• A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
