Counseling Services is a department strategically integrated with Health Services within the Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management. The position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and routine screening of Medicaid and Medicare Exclusion Lists. What will you do as a Senior Staff Therapist/Psychologist:
Suicide Prevention and Intervention Specialist
You will provide psychological intervention, prevention, and postvention programs and services to the university community, primarily to University of Oregon students. As a Suicide Prevention and Intervention Specialist, you will coordinate and provide Suicide prevention and intervention activities including overseeing specific programs such as Interactive screening. You will also consult and collaborate with experienced and compassionate UO colleagues to facilitate campus-wide Suicide prevention and intervention programs. You will provide clinical services and evaluate educational and Outreach programs that will provide student access to exceptional guidance to assist students through the challenges of college life.
Who are you? (Minimum Qualifications)
Doctoral Degree Psychologist: - Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an
APA-accredited program. All degree requirements must be completed
prior to start date.
- Completion of an APA- or CPA-accredited doctoral internship
prior to start date.
- 18 months of experience with clinical issues, ranging from
developmental issues to more serious psychopathology and including
short-term therapy.
- 9 months experience providing suicide prevention, intervention,
and/or postvention services and programs.
- Licensable in Oregon and licensed within two years of
hire.
- If licensed in another state, must be licensed in Oregon within
six months of start date.
Master's Degree Therapist: - Master's degree in counseling, couples, and family therapy, or
social work. Applicants with master's degrees must be currently
licensed and able to obtain Oregon licensure prior to start
date.
- 18 months of experience with clinical issues, ranging from
developmental issues to more serious psychopathology and including
short-term therapy.
- 9 months experience providing suicide prevention, intervention,
and/or postvention services and programs.
For success in this position, you will have: (Professional Competencies)
- Multicultural competence and commitment to multicultural
organizational development.
- Effective communication skills.
- Familiarity with suicide prevention, intervention, postvention
models, instruments, and/or programs.
It's great but not required to have: (Preferred Qualifications)
- Nine months providing psychological services in a college or
university setting.
- Ability to articulate an understanding of the role of a
counseling center on a university campus.
- Experience providing supervision to graduate-level
counseling/psychology trainees.
