Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Parking & Operations, the incumbent has oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Operations departments: Receiving & Mail Services, University Print Shop, Department Copier Program, Asset Management, and Lost & Found. The incumbent supervises office staff and students and provides a high degree of customer service for the various facets of the operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Directs the operational responsibilities of the Operations departments
- Provides insight and recommendations on process improvements, policies, and procedures within the Operations departments
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service in all areas of the department. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, evaluation of customer satisfaction and recommendations for process improvements. Ability to see the “big picture” and act accordingly as a member of the management team responsible for all Operations activities. Demonstrated ability to provide operations oversight for a highly visible department consisting of multiple business units and discrete processes. Demonstrated ability to supervise bargaining unit staff and provide appropriate direction and guidance to ensure success of the department preferred. Experience using enterprise level computer systems with the ability to learn and provide functional oversight for the department's integrated information systems. Excellent ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to a diverse array of faculty, staff, students, and community members. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, web browsers and email. Ability to proactively identify complex problems and reviews related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Ability to follow campus, division and department processes, policies, and procedures, and to comply with all state and federally regulated requirements. Ability to assign work to subordinate staff and ensure tasks are completed accurately, on-time and within specified parameters. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and ensure that applicable deadlines are met.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience required. Experience working in a collective bargaining environment and managing bargaining unit employees preferred.
Licenses / Certificates
Incumbents may be required to possess a California Driver's License valid for the operation of any vehicle or equipment they are required to maintain and operate. Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on university business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.

Hiring Range: $5,722 - $7,153 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
Compensation Range: $5,722 - $8,583 per month
