Position Summary:
The University of Idaho Architecture Program is seeking educators who are enthusiastic about architecture, excited to teach design, love working with students, have a strong desire to work collaboratively, demonstrate an ability to do high-quality research, and are determined to contribute to the making of a better, more sustainable, world.
Emphasis: Technology and Design in Service of the EnvironmentThe desired outcome of this search is to hire a candidate that can weave together architectural design and technical execution aimed at the promotion of future regenerative built environments.The successful faculty candidate will demonstrate the effective mixing of technology and design in their own work, particularly a burgeoning body of research that suggests future national and international impact. Areas of expertise may include bio-based material innovation, carbon-neutral construction, life cycle analysis, resilient architecture, or some other framing of building technology serving the environment. The successful candidate will be able to discuss the intellectual investments of both their work and pedagogy, providing examples of innovative approaches to teaching architecture. In addition to teaching architectural design studios at undergraduate and graduate levels, the successful candidate will exhibit their qualifications for teaching a required year-long course focused on managing the intersection of building and environment. Finally, we hold in the highest regard those candidates who not only exemplify the qualities described above, but who are energetic, collegial, and highly-motivated to contribute to activities that promote the life of a dynamic architecture program.All candidates should demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and graphic design communication skills. Appointments will be for the academic-year and begin August 14, 2023

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Candidates must hold a terminal degree in architecture (Master of Architecture or equivalent) or research-based Master of Science or PhD in Architecture or a closely related field.
  • Candidates must have a record of innovative research and/or practice in architecture.
  • Candidates must have at least 2 years of architecture teaching experience and be able to show work that demonstrates student achievement.
