Job Description

The Department of Social Sciences at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) seeks an Associate or advanced Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice (tenure-track, 9-month position) to begin Fall 2023. Duties include teaching face-to-face and online courses at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels, performing/publishing research in Criminal Justice and/or closely related areas, and serving on department, college, university, and professional committees. The teaching load will generally be 3 courses per semester with opportunities for course releases.

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate must hold an earned doctorate in Criminal Justice or a related field. All specializations will be considered. However, candidates with expertise in homeland security, immigration, trafficking, and/or qualitative research methods are especially encouraged to apply.

We desire candidates who demonstrate excellent research skills, have a strong record of sustained publication in peer-reviewed journals (commensurate with experience), have prior experience with seeking and/or securing external grant funding, have experience working with diverse student populations, and have the ability to teach in areas that complement or strengthen our undergraduate and graduate programs.

This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace for a minimum of four days a week.
