Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Associate Director, Data Analytics and Budget, the Budget Analyst acts as a key member of the Dean's Office financial staff and serves as the main point of contact for all matters related to financial transactions and reconciliations, accounting policies, and department discretionary budgets at the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH). Responsibilities include managing the daily transactions of the College's budget including verifying and processing expense reimbursements, ensuring compliance with university and college policies, executing budget transfers and journal vouchers, reconciling Dean's Office budgets, tracking, and processing Dean's Office financial commitments, tracking departmental budgets, and developing and maintaining financial reports for college leadership. Also responsible for managing the College's yearly department budget process, which includes creating budget templates to be sent to departments, attending, and documenting all department budget meetings, aggregating budget increase requests, and creating reports for presentation to the Associate Dean for Administration and Finance and Dean, and entering final budgets into the university's budget system.

The Budget Analyst is also responsible for managing the college's computer replacement cycle and making computer purchases on behalf of the Dean's Office. The Budget Analyst will serve as the Deputy Gatekeeper and will need to review all contracts being routed through CSSH before reaching OGC. The Budget Analyst will serve as a liaison to department administrators on operational financial issues. Administrative duties include assisting the Associate Dean with space management-related tasks including capital project management, coordination of internal moves and space-related requests from college units, maintaining college space records and projecting annual space costs. The analyst also performs ad hoc financial analyses and reports for the Associate Dean of Finance and other general tasks to support the Dean's Office as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required and 4 years of experience working in finance or accounting required.
  • Strong financial analytical skills required. Experience working in higher education is a plus.
  • Must be a good communicator, both written and oral, have attention to detail and be able to work independently.
  • Must be well organized and have the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products required.
  • Experience with enterprise financial systems required.
  • Must have the ability to learn computer systems and databases as necessary; Salesforce experience is a plus.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and present good discretion and judgment in decision-making.
