Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) is a public community college in Canandaigua, New York. It is affiliated with the State University of New York and sponsored by Ontario County. The main campus is just east of the City of Canandaigua, with additional campus centers in Victor, Geneva, and Newark to serve the needs of Ontario County, Wayne County, Yates County and Seneca County in the Finger Lakes region of New York.

We are looking for an HR leader committed to providing comprehensive HR programs and policies and to engage College employees in a culture of success in a caring, respectful, inclusive, and responsive manner.

As a member of the President’s Cabinet, the Chief Human Resources Officer participates in strategic planning, policy formulation, budgetary decisions, and problem solving.  The CHRO offers advice and counsel on the human resources implications of institutional decisions and ensures appropriate legal and ethical principles are applied to the college’s recruitment/selection process, benefits administration, and affirmative action plan. The CHRO participates in contract negotiations and monitors the administration of all labor contracts to ensure compliance and provides leadership and direction in college-wide personnel areas, including recruitment and staffing, benefits and salary administration, labor and employee relations, training and development and records management.

Education and experience: Requires a minimum of 5 years of human resource management and labor relations experience, with at least 5 years of direct supervisory experience. Master’s Degree in human resources or related field required.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities: In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of human resource practice, procedures, and employment law, in addition to union contract administration and negotiations; Strong knowledge of employee benefits plans, such as health insurance, pension programs, disability insurance, etc.; Knowledge of and skill in the design and delivery of training programs and presentations; Experience overseeing matters of Civil Rights, including but not limited to Section 504, Title IX, Title VII, Title VI and ADA.; Strong verbal, quantitative and interpersonal skills to effectively deal with complex management problems and communicate with employees at all levels inside and outside the college; Ability to manage a department, including supervising employees and managing performance.
