Instructor of Composition

The English Program at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana, invites applications for an Instructor of Composition (non-tenure track). The ideal candidate will hold a PhD (preferred) or an MA in Rhetoric and Composition at the time of application. We also encourage applications from candidates with a different degree in English who have experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching first-year composition for at least two years. We seek candidates who can contribute in inventive ways to our first-year writing sequence and who have demonstrated pedagogical knowledge in the broad area of Composition and Rhetoric. The suitable candidate will also have previous experiences with writing centers and in advising undergraduate Literary Studies, English Education, and Creative Writing majors. The position requires a credit load of 12 credits each semester (4/4), for a total of 24 credit hours per academic year. Opportunities to teach other courses may emerge, but this position’s focus will remain on the first-year writing sequence. The successful candidate will support and carry out the mission of the college as well as demonstrate a commitment to developing and enhancing a culture of rigor, excellence, and achievement.
