Professor of Computer Science

Southern Virginia University seeks applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Computer Science to begin in the Fall of 2023. Major responsibilities include coordinating the computer science major, mentoring undergraduate students, and developing and teaching computer science courses.

The ideal candidate will have a proven teaching record and evidence of effective teaching in small classes. The typical teaching load for a full-time instructor is 4 courses per semester. Beyond teaching, the position requires mentorship of undergraduate students and the continued development of a program to prepare students for immediate entry into the workforce or graduate school. Minimum of a M.S. in Computer Science is required and preferred candidates will hold a PhD with an emphasis in Software Engineering, Data Science, or related field. Candidates with exceptional industry experience and professional accomplishments may also be considered. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
