Position Summary

9-month position (Aug 16-May 15); actual start and end dates may vary based on academic calendar

This position is responsible to perform assigned responsibilities, and to perform routine, sanitation and heavy labor duties. Individual in this position works under the supervision of the Food Service Managers and Assistant Food Service Managers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate equipment effectively and efficiently.
  • Wash pots and pans, transporting utensils and equipment to and from proper storage area.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation by sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing of floors, walk-in refrigerators, grills, steam kettles, etc. Utilizing all chemicals in an appropriate and safe manner.
  • Assist in the lifting of heavy objects and moving of equipment and furnishings.
  • Perform other routine cleaning and duties as assigned.
  • Report to administrator any equipment in need of repairs.
Minimum Required Qualifications (Civil Service)

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.

  1. Knowledge of use and operation of cleaning solutions and equipment.

Exam Details:
  • The Civil Service examination for this classification is a Credentials Assessment and is based on your application materials as submitted for this posting. A Credential Assessment is a rating by the Human Resources Office of an applicant’s/employee’s education, experience, and special credentials/qualifications (licenses, etc.).
