Description:
The Undergraduate and Graduate Communications Design departments at Pratt Institute is calling for applications towards the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters to join our part-time faculty community.

The Communications Design Departments prepare students to be effective visual communicators, inspired makers, critical thinkers and versatile creative professionals. Through project-based coursework and a vibrant studio culture, students focus on the development of a rich design process that values unique perspectives, innovative outcomes, media fluency, collaborative exchange and an understanding of the larger history and impact of design practices on people, communities and environments. Our curriculum equips students with the conceptual and practical competencies they need to successfully position themselves and their work inside this exciting and evolving interdisciplinary field.
Pay Rate: $1,383 - $1,844 per contact hour
Qualifications:
Applicants are required to have a Master's degree or equivalent in graphic design, media arts, illustration or relevant fields and college/university/art school teaching experience. Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills, a demonstrated level of intercultural competence, and ability to work well with diverse populations.
Candidate’s professional or scholarly focus may include a broad set of interests within the field. We encourage applicants with experience and knowledge in the following areas of expertise:
- Historical and critical perspectives on contemporary communications design
- Non-western perspectives on communications design
- Technology, information culture and media criticism
- Sustainability, materials and practices
- Interaction/experiential design
- Creative coding
- Speculative design
- Digital storytelling, networked communications and augmented/virtual reality
- Generative image-making
- Motion/animation
