Scope of Job:
We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley's diverse student body as a Lecturer in the School of Interdisciplinary Programs and Community Engagement beginning in the 2023-2024 academic year.
The main responsibilities of the person hired will be to contribute to the Multidisciplinary Studies (BMS) degree program and the B.A. in the Human Dimensions of Organizations (HDO) by teaching classes such as MLDS 3300: Introduction to Multidisciplinary Studies; MLDS 4399 Multidisciplinary Research Seminar; HDOS 3301: Introduction to the Human Dimensions of Organizations; HDOS 3320: Multidisciplinary Methods for Exploring Organizations; and, HDOS 3379 Applying the Human Dimensions of Organizations. The ideal candidate might also be able to contribute to other degrees and programs, especially the Medical Humanities, Environmental Studies, and Gender and Women's Studies.

Department/College Background:Housed in the College of Liberal Arts, the School of Interdisciplinary Programs and Community Engagement (SIPCE) combines the expertise and knowledge drawn from a diverse array of faculty across UTRGV. Faculty pursue an intersectional approach to multidisciplinary research, teaching, and learning that not only attends to the unique region of Rio Grande Valley and South Texas but also the nation and the world. SIPCE prepares students to address complex questions and develop meaningful solutions that promote a democratic society, social justice, and sustainable futures. SIPCE programs offer social justice-oriented and critical studies degrees that examine various issues facing our society today.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. in humanities or social sciences from an accredited institution of higher education. ABDs will be considered, but a conferred doctorate by August 31, 2023 is required for appointment.
2. Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence.

Discipline Specific Required Qualifications:
1. A Ph.D. in the humanities or social sciences with a primary or combined expertise in Organizational Studies, Organizational Cultures, Organizational Communication, Organizational Development and Change, Organizational Anthropology, the Human Dimensions of Organizations, Cultural Studies, Interdisciplinary Studies, or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualification:
Candidates who have the following qualifications are especially encouraged to apply:
· Secondary expertise in one or more of the following: Medical Humanities, Environmental Studies, Food Studies, or Gender and Women’s Studies.
· University or Community College teaching experience that includes a combination of different modalities (e.g. face-to-face, hybrid, online).
· Experience working with and forming community partnerships with local organizations and businesses.
· Bilingual abilities, preferably English/Spanish

Additional Information:
UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days inlength.
