The School of Architecture at Montana State University invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor for the academic year beginning in August 2023. The School of Architecture is part of the College of Arts and Architecture and offers the Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Design and Master of Architecture degrees with a focus on professional education.
We are seeking faculty to provide innovative pedagogical approaches and expertise in one or more of the following areas including computation, digital design, building science and technology, structures, environmental stewardship, professional practice, community design and/or regional design. The work of the faculty member will critically imagine new possibilities for the social, cultural, and ethical roles of architecture in a complex and dynamic world. The position invites creative interpretations on incorporating advanced research, experimental methods, and technical mastery into teaching upper-division and graduate studios that integrate social, environmental, and technical considerations. The successful candidate will also be encouraged to teach lectures and seminars with a focus on their area of expertise and to advocate for the integration of this expertise into the curriculum. They will also have the opportunity to advise graduate students on Master Studio Projects.
