Job Description

The Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law seeks an engaging and creative individual to join the JD Admissions team in the position of Associate Director of JD Admissions - Recruitment. The Associate Director will develop and coordinate JD recruitment efforts and take significant responsibility for recruitment strategies, outreach plans, new initiatives, and various other aspects of the JD admissions process. In particular, the successful candidate will be a primary point of contact for prospective and admitted students. Responsibilities will include recruitment campaigns, events and student meetings, cultivating partnerships, and reviewing applications. This position will report to the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid.

 

Salary Range

$65,000 - $80,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

  • Developing, coordinating, and implementing strategic plans to recruit JD students
  • Managing recruitment initiatives and programs, including establishing calendars and timelines for communications and events and coordinating staff resources
  • Effectively communicating information about all aspects of the College of Law, including frequently meeting with individual students, developing and delivering presentations to large groups, and maintaining student-facing information and resources
  • Managing incoming and outgoing communications with prospective/admitted students via email, telephone, video/Zoom, and in person
  • Reviewing and recommending decisions on applications for admission to the JD program
  • Responding to requests for information and investigating solutions to student issues and concerns with the admissions and financial aid processes
  • Acting as a liaison with the community, students, faculty and staff in facilitating the College of Law’s recruitment plan
  • Developing, planning and facilitating workshops, meetings, recruitment events, webinars, campus tours and presentations, including occasional commitments on evenings and weekends
  • Coordinating and attending external recruitment programs and events representing the College of Law, including some travel both in and out of state
  • Working closely with faculty and staff to meet recruitment goals and collaborating effectively with academic units and services throughout the University
  • Data analysis and utilization: initiating and preparing administrative reports and documents; assessing recruitment programs and events for effectiveness
  • Physical presence at the College of Law is an essential function or requirement of this job
  • Performing other duties as assigned to support the goals of the department and ASU Law

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND seven (7) years of related administrative experience, which includes four (4) years of supervisory experience; OR, Eleven (11) years of related administrative experience, which includes four (4) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited school preferred
  • Experience in working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, service-oriented office environment
  • Experience working in a higher education environment, particularly in an advising, admissions, or student experience capacity/department
  • Evidence of effective communication skills
  • Public speaking and presentation experience
  • Demonstrated project management experience and organizational skills
  • Experience in critical thinking and effective problem-solving skills
  • Experience in counseling, advising, or mentorship
  • Experience in networking skills and ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
  • Supervisory and/or training experience
  • Evidence in being collaborative, proactive, adaptable, and pragmatic

 

Working Environment

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Occasional Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
