The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University, is seeking a board certified/board eligible Joint Replacement Surgeon with demonstrated commitment to patient care and enthusiasm for creating an inclusive learning and working environment. We highly value the ability to engage effectively with students, faculty and staff of diverse backgrounds because our tripartite mission is to deliver quality, compassionate patient care, advance the field of Orthopedics through research, and train the next generation of health experts.

All candidates must have completed at least one year of fellowship, have an interest in developing a clinical practice, contribute to research endeavors, and participate in our resident/fellowship education program. This position is primarily based at Surburban Hospital and the outpatient clinic in Bethesda, MD. This position will also be credentialed at all regional ambulatory surgery centers.

Examples of Work Performed:
The candidate will provide medical services in both the inpatient and outpatient environments. Clinical responsibilities include actively participating in continued growth of the Hand Surgery programs at the JHU SOM. Teaching responsibilities include participating in the education of Orthopedic Surgery residents, fellows, and medical students. Research responsibilities include actively pursuing and participating in research activities as well as mentoring residents and other faculty in research endeavors. Required to take emergency call.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • Board certified/board eligible Orthopedic Surgeon.
  • Must be eligible for licensure in the state of Maryland
  • Must have training or extensive experience in joints replacement
  • All incumbents must have completed a one year fellowship
  • 1-6 years related experience, title of (Assistant/Associate Professor) will be contingent on years of experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently to build clinical practice
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinical experience/interest in joint replacement
  • Strong interest in education
  • Background in research
