POSITION: STUDENT LEADERSHIP AND ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

DIVISION: STUDENT AFFAIRS

OPENING DATE: APRIL 26, 2022

CLOSING DATE: Applications will be reviewed immediately and position will remain open until filled. 

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of Student Leadership and Engagement, the Student Leadership and Engagement Coordinator has the responsibility of planning and implementing activities and events that support students’ leadership engagement, as well as personal/professional and organizational development. The incumbent will support and oversee the registration of student organizations and execute evening and weekend programming, and Intramural Sports Program (including a JCSU Pep Squad). Maintain relationships with external community service agencies and groups, and work with other Student Affairs’ units (i.e., Spiritual Life) to communicate service-learning opportunities to students. Contributes to the drafting and writing of protocols, procedures, training manuals and handbooks that ensure that student and university-recognized organizations and advisors are aware of the university and office rules, regulations and policies. Maintains a clearinghouse of information about student activities and events on campus (i.e., student organization directory) and provides accurate information concerning activities/events dates, times and locations that may be presented in a variety of formats (i.e., fliers, social media, JCSU website, JCSU News, etc.). Devises and plans evening and weekend programming that may tie into divisional programming, Athletics and activities hosted in the Mary Joyce Taylor Crisp Student Union, including the Bull Pen (game room and performance space).

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree required in Business Administration, Education, Social Work, Communication Arts, Psychology, Non-Profit Leadership or related fields. Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs or College Student Personnel Services preferred. Possess strong analytical and communication skills, sound professional judgment, initiative and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals including students, faculty and staff. Experience with Microsoft Office applications, social media platforms and graphic design are a bonus. Some knowledge of event planning, organizational management and student development theory is highly preferred. Must be creative, organized and able to multitask, with strong attention to detail and the management of his/her/the university’s time.
