The Opportunity

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - Worldwide announces a new opportunity within the Department of Instructional Design and Development. The Associate Director of Instructional Design Operations works closely with the Executive Director, the Directors of Instructional Design and Development, the Director of Learning Experience and Innovation, and the Director of IDD Multimedia Services on specific operations related to course production. This position is strictly related to operational activities supporting the Instructional Design and Development team. However, it does not include employee supervision, research, or the adoption of learning theories and practices onto course design or media production.

This position is both strategic and procedural, as it is focused on facilitating both the establishment/execution of strategic initiatives and the day-to-day operations supporting the Instructional Design and Development team. Additionally, this position provides support in the management of projects supporting course production efforts within the Instructional Design and Development team.

The Associate Director of Instructional Design Operations must be able to work effectively both individually and in collaboration with other team members on the execution of duties, responsibilities, projects, and tasks assigned to this position. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are of utmost importance in this position.

The Associate Director of Instructional Design Operations plays a key role in teaching and learning for the ERAU Worldwide Campus and the Academic Innovation team. The Academic Innovation team is made up of diverse skill sets and individuals, including a Software Developer, UX Research Analysts, eLearning Support Specialists, Instructional Technologists, Instructional Designers, Instructional Consultants, Media Producers, and Digital Media Specialists. Those positions work collaboratively to apply their expertise on the creation and implementation of innovative solutions and on the identification of tools and technologies that address big challenges in education. The Associate Director seeks to constantly innovate through continued evaluation of existing solutions and by staying informed about industry trends.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree (Area of study: Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Education, Management, Business Management, Project Management, or other related field)
  • 5-10 years of work-related experience (experience in operations may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree)
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Recommended prior experience performing administrative duties in a post-secondary educational institution.
  • Minimum of two to three years of experience in operations (in addition to advanced degree).
  • Proven experience with management and/or execution of projects.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbally and writing).
  • Sharp decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with budgeting- and finance-related activities.
  • Must have the ability to administer and work cooperatively with the Leadership, IDD team, and the University community.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD or other doctoral degree in related field.
