Job Description

ECPBS Coaching Definition:

Coaching is a primary strategy of mental health consultation as a problem-solving intervention designed to improve the ability of providers and others in a child’s natural environment to prevent and reduce challenging behaviors of young children.

General Summary:

This position will support Boone County Children’s Service Fund program Early Child Positive Behavioral Support (ECPBS). The ECPBS model is designed to effect long-term, systems-level change through the implementation of evidence-based practice and the use of data to support quality improvement. Specifically, ECPBS provides training and programmatic consultation to improve the quality of the early childhood program environment and to increase provider capacity for building re1ationships with children and families, promote social-emotional development, reduce problem behaviors, and promote school readiness.

ECPBS coaching consists of observation, modeling, goals assessment, ref1ection, and support and is designed to reinforce training principles and promote supportive classroom environments. In addition, the coaching process is highly focused on connecting with program administration to ensure commitment to and participation in implementation. ECPBS coaches work directly with administrators, classroom teachers and support staff on a weekly basis.

Job Responsibilities :
  • Become trained and proficient with ECPBS strategies and goals, NCPMI pyramid model and Positive Behavioral Support model.
  • Facilitate an ongoing process to help staff develop and implement a plan for supporting best practices to enhance children’s social emotional health using ECPBS best-practice strategies.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, peers, and other coaches.
  • Help create environments that support ECPBS Universal strategies and positive behavior.
  • Help implement social-emotional strategies and successful teaching practices.
  • Direct programs, families and children to appropriate community resources when needed
  • Recognize need for individualized intensive intervention.
  • Collect, track, and report program data/forms to evaluator and/or ECPBS coordinator on a monthly and ongoing basis.
  • Become familiar with and be able to successful implement evaluation measurement tools.
  • Collaborate with EC-PBS program and community teams
  • Engage in monthly reflective supervision, bi-weekly coaches meetings, and bi-monthly team meetings with program site staff.
Qualifications :
  • Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Family Development, Psychology, Social Work or a related field. Or minimum of 2 years working with infants and young children (eight and under), families and early childhood providers.
  • Knowledge and education regarding developmentally appropriate teaching practices
  • Experience working with persons from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
  • Knowledge and education in typical and atypical social/emotional development of young children 0-6.
  • Proficient and confident with developing curriculum and providing trainings (creating materials, able to deliver presentation and trainings)
  • Experience with facilitating meetings; including drafting notes, agendas, running meeting, etc.
  • Experience and or knowledge of Positive Behavior Support
  • Familiarity of Boone County resources involving children and families
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Salary Range: $20.05 - $37.04 hourly

Primarily 8:00 to 5:00 with occasional evening and weekend hours
This is a grant funded position ends December 31, 2023. Renewal of grant is possible.
