Job Description

This is a part-time position responsible for providing basic husbandry for equine that may enter the hospital. Must ensure that all pens, stalls, treatment areas, connecting corridors are adequately cleaned and disinfected so that biosecurity integrity can be maintained. Rail work, catches and hinges on all pens, stalls and treatment areas must be cleaned and maintained continuously. May include duties in the food animal clinic caring for cattle, pigs, sheep, llamas, etc that may enter the hospital.

Salary

Salary Range: Hiring at $15/hour

GGS Grade: B

Shift

This is a part-time position. Monday - Friday 7am - 12pm

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to read and write.
  • One to two years of experience with caring for horses and/or livestock.
  • Ability on a daily basis to:
    • Lift items weighing up to 70 lbs.
    • Grasp handles of shovels for scooping.
    • Climb on railings.
    • Grasp brooms and mops for cleaning.
    • Observe animal behavior.
Work around dust, chemicals, animal waste and water.

Preferred Qualifications

Equine handling experience. Excellent communication skills. Some heavy lifting and periodic use of forklifts, trucks and other equipment.
