POSITION: POLICE SERGEANT - SWORN

DEPARTMENT: CAMPUS POLICE

DIVISION: FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION

Responsibilities: Under occasional supervision, performs general police duties to ensure the strict enforcement of state and local laws and University rules and regulations relating to public safety and welfare. Supervises subordinate officers through the chain of command. May coordinate and implement officer training programs. Maintains records and prepares reports as required. Reports to the Police Major.

Qualifications Requires a high school diploma supplemented by three to five years of experience in law enforcement. An Associate’s Degree is preferred, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and experience. Must possess N.C. Basic Law Enforcement Certification, First Aid and CPR certifications, and a valid state driver's license.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Incumbents must be willing and able to work first, second or third shift as assigned by the department to meet organizational needs.
